Job Overview

Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 7 Cleaner Level 2 positions at Cullinan Care and Rehabilitation Centre. This is an entry-level opportunity suitable for applicants with Grade 10 or ABET Level 4 (or equivalent) who have some cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical setting.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum ABET Level 4 / Grade 10 / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• 1 or more years of cleaning experience in a hospital/clinical environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability and preparedness to work shifts, including night duty, weekends and Public Holidays.
• Be honest and reliable.
• Physical strength and ability to work in a team.

Key Duties

• Cleaning of floors and walls, attend to all low and high surface areas, dusting doors and door handles, lockers, beds and other furniture.
• Washing of windows and window frames. Clean and dust curtains/blinds.
• Cleaning of outside areas (corridors, picking of papers), remove waste according to the required standard.
• Cleaning of fridges and micro-ovens. Washing of cups and utensils in the ward.
• Good control of chemicals and operate heavy duty cleaning machines.
• Report any defects in the workplace to the supervisor.
• Ensure and maintain a clean and secure environment for patients.
• Attend to all spillages to avoid injuries.
• Providing all areas with DEO blocks, air fresheners, hand washing soap and toilet papers daily.
• Collecting patient’s food/beverages from the kitchen to the wards daily.
• Unpacking and packing of linen in the storeroom.
• Perform any other delegated duties requested by the supervisor.
