Minimum Requirements

• ABET Level 3 / minimum Grade 9 or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to read and write.
• Prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of Batho Pele principles and health and safety rules.
• Porter experience or public health sector exposure will be an advantage.

Key Duties

• Escort and move patients to different hospital sections using wheelchairs and stretchers.
• Assist nursing, medical and allied staff when required.
• Load and offload patients from private vehicles.
• Move patient documents between sections.
• Clean and prepare wheelchairs and stretchers for use.
• Assist with mortuary-related duties and record mortuary temperatures as required.
